These studies have not taken carbohydrate in general, nor fructose in particular, into consideration. Furthermore there are some epidemiological studies that find no association whatsoever between meat and uric acid levels. Consuming less purine rich foods should help to lower uric acid levels to decrease the risk of gout, in theory. But this theory is not exact as other nutrients appear to aggravate symptoms of gout as well.

Soft drinks and fruit juice are not good for the diet of those with gout due to the added sugars and sweeteners.

A total of 1,447 (70.6 percent) of the 2,051 subjects self-reported that one or more foods or beverages would trigger a gout attack, and 69.4 percent reported more than one trigger.

Red meat that has been cured or processed, and seafood are associated with increased risk of gout. Because all meat, poultry and fish contain purines, limit your intake. Alcohol itself is not high in purines, but it can make gout worse. For another, alcohol causes the body to produce more purines and therefore more uric acid.
